Adi Godrej is one of the well-known entrepreneurs in the Indian Industrial Sector. He is the Chairman of Godrej Group one of the largest companies based in Mumbai involved in production of various goods such as appliances, furniture, healthcare, interior solutions, office equipment, security and so on. We spoke with him recently where he explained very briefly the different phases that the Indian Market has gone through, the current market structure and its future expectations.

THE HISTORY OF AUTO INDUSTRY IN INDIA - PREMIER AUTO LTD

On occasion of the recent Indo-Italian Automotive Summit 2011, held between Delhi & Pune in April 2011, we met Mr Maitreya Doshi, Chairman and Managing director of Premier Ltd at the time known as Premier Automobiles Ltd. Mr Doshi is the nephew of the founder of the company which is one of the pioneers of the automobile industry in post indipendence India. Premier Automobile Ltd. or PAL as it was known is often associated in India with the Italian carmaker Fiat which has been it's long standing partner for over 40 years. The partnership allowed Fiat to be the first foreign car maker to establish it's brand presence in India post indipendence. In the video Mr. Doshi himself guides us through the milestones of PAL from the early day uptil the 90's.

THE LUXURY CAR MARKET IN INDIA: INTERVIEW WITH AUDI’S INDIA HEAD

On occasion of the recent Indo-Italian Automotive Summit 2011 we met Mr. Michael Perschke, head of Audi India. Audi is the latest luxury car maker to have started production in India in the Aurangabad plant in Maharashtra. Mr. Perschk tells us about the peculiarities and psychology of the Indian customer, the surprise selling cities for luxury cars and differences between Indian and Chinese luxury market. Audi has been selling Luxury cars in India since 2004, however Audi India was established in March 2007 as a division of Volkswagen Group Sales India.

TERRUZZI FECALX Spa was the first Italian company to buy a listed Indian company , VULCAN ENGINEERING. Vulcan is listed on the BSE - Bombay Stock Exchange and the take over from Terruzzi Fercalx Spa was finalized in early 2010. Ferruzzi Fercalx is today among the world leaders in equipment for the steel making industry and the lime industry. Ferruzzi Terclx is active all over the world, from China to South America. We met Paola Terruzzi in our office on February 2011.
