GOVT. LINES UP RS. 324 CRORE TO SET UP FOOD PARK IN AP & MAHARASHTRA

AUG 2016- Government said it is setting up two mega food parks at a cost of Rs 324 crore in Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra under its ambitious Sagarmala project. As part of the Sagarmala Programme of the Ministry of Shipping, two mega food parks projects are being implemented in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh and southern Maharashtra by the Ministry of Food Processing. The projects are strategically situated in CEZs (Coastal Economic Zone) with proximity to ports and will give boost to the EXIM trade for food processing sector.



FDI IN FOOD PROCESSING MAY CROSS $1 BILLION IN NEXT 2 YEARS

Foreign direct investment in the food processing sector is expected to cross $1 billion in the next two years, helped by reforms in FDI space and streamlining of FSSAI regulations. Highlighting achievements of two years of the NDA government, ministry has permitted development of 17 new food parks across the country and is making efforts to operationalise all 42 parks by 2019 that will help double processing level of fruits and vegetables to 20 per cent.



ITALIAN COMPANY FERRERO ROCHER TO IVEST RS 367 CRORE IN INDIA

OCT 2015- Italian chocolate maker Ferrero Rocher to invest Rs 367 crore in India. It will be its biggest investment so far in the country, to ramp up its production facility and distribution network. Ferrero is expanding its production facility at Baramati Maharashtra and strengthening its warehousing and distribution in India.



100 CITIES TO VIE IN SMART CITY CHALLENGE

AUG 2015- Vizag, Tirupati and Kakinada, chosen to represent Andhra Pradesh in the Smart City Challenge conducted by the Union Government, scored over the other cities in the state by virtue of their better performance on crucial parameters, such as JNNURM execution, basic services and online grievance redressal. These three cities were among 13 municipal corporations that submitted their proposals to the State Government hoping to represent Andhra Pradesh in the all-India competition of cities. This was stage-I of the competition, which was held within the state.



ITALY'S ENEL GREEN MAY INVEST AROUND RS.900 CRORE IN BLP IN NEXT 23 YEARS

JUNE 2015- Italian renewable energy multinational Enel Green Power is in advance negotiations with BLP to make a significant investment for a controlling stake in the company. Enel Green, a subsidiary of Italy's biggest power company Enel Power may invest around Rs 900 crore ($150 million) as fresh equity commitment into the company to support the expansion plans of its total capacity to 450-500 MW from the current 172 MW over the next 2-3 years.



ADANI PLANS 1,000-Mw SOLAR PARKIN TAMIL NADU

JUNE 2015- After announcing solar parks in Gujarat and Rajasthan, Adani Power has firmed up plans to set up a 1,000-megawatt (Mw) one in Tamil Nadu. The proposed energy park is likely to attract around Rs 7,000-crore investment. The sources said a deal had been signed with the state government and the project is at an “exploratory” level. Sources at the state government said the project would be developed in four phases. The company is planning to set up the park at Kamuthi in Ramanathapuram district, around 550 km south of Chennai, and is in the process of acquiring approximately 5,000 acres



INDIA TO INVITE BIDDING FOR LARGEST SOLAR POWER PROJECT

JUNE 2014- India is about to launch the largest bidding of solar power projects worth 1,500 MW under its flagship Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM). In what the government officials claim is the first success story of converging the three energy ministries vis-a-vis coal, power and renewable energy, solar power would be bundled with conventional power at such a huge scale in one go. The bidding, which is a part of second batch of the phase 2 of JNNSM, aims to achieve a capacity addition of 10,000 MW by 2017. The government tendered 750 MW of solar power projects in January 2014 as part of this phase.
