INDIA ADDS ITALY'S ENI TO LIST OF FOREIGN FIRMS THAT CAN SELL CRUDE OIL

JAN 2014- India has added Italy's ENI to a list of foreign firms that can sell crude oil at official prices to state refiners, sources said, in the first such revision to the list since 2001. The move comes as India expands its sources for oil to meet soaring energy demand. The country's procurement choices are widening as a shale boom in the United States has led to suppliers scrambling to tap alternative Asian markets such as China and India. A government committee in May 2013 called for revising the list of companies that can sell oil to state refiners in view of the changing market scenario and due to mergers and acquisitions.

NERO D’AVOLA MADE IN INDIA

MAY 2010 - Vintage Wines Pvt Ltd (marketed under brand name Reveilo) has first launched Italian varietals of wines, Nero d’Avola and Grillo in India. The wines are available for institutional and retail sales. Grillo is the widely grown white-wine grape variety in Sicily and Nero d’Avola is Sicily’s most popular red grape. Reveilo’s consultant winemaker, Andrea Valentinuzzi, is himself an Italian, continuing the old traditions of taking a bit of Italy wherever he goes. Reveilo say that the growing conditions in Nasik in Maharastra are similar to those in Sicily, and this may mark the start of a new trend in Indian winemaking, and another flag on the world map for Italian grapes.
